Suspects appear in Durban court for possession of carbreaking implements and drugs

Durban Central management commended the members for the swift arrests of the suspects.

TWO men appeared in court this week in cases of possession of car breaking implements and drugs.

Sgt Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS said in the first incident, on 19 September, Durban Central officers responded swiftly and arrested a suspect for being in possession of car breaking implements and drugs.

“It is alleged that on the same day at about 8.30pm, members were patrolling along Victoria Embankment when they observed a man who was walking around the area. Members approached the man and upon searching him, found drugs, car breaking implements and a dangerous weapon in his possession. He was arrested and charged,” she said.

In another incident, at around 7pm on 18 September, officers were patrolling when they responded to a complaint of housebreaking in progress at a business premises in Walnut Road, Durban.

“Upon arrival members apprehended one suspect who was found in possession of computer equipment stolen from the premises. The property was positively identified by the lawful owner and was later handed over back to the owner,” she said.

The man was charged for housebreaking and section 36, being in possession of property suspected to be stolen.

“Durban Central management commended the members for their swift arrests,” Khomo said.
