Durban SAPS arrest 2 suspects for attempted murder, assault

DURBAN Central SAPS officers arrested suspects for attempted murder and assault on Thursday 17 September.

According to Sgt Zanele Khomo, this arrest comes after a complaint of shots fired in Mansel Road (off Umgeni Road) was received via the SAPS radio at around 11.30am.

“Durban Central members proceeded to the location and upon arrival found a man lying unconscious on the ground after being assaulted and pointed with a firearm by two men who were travelling in a white Mercedes Vito. The victim was transported to hospital for further treatment and a second victim, who was also assaulted and pointed with a firearm by the same two men, was found on scene by members,” she said, adding that the suspects had fled the scene prior to the police’s arrival.

A description of the motor vehicle and suspects was given to the officers and the vehicle was circulated on the police radio.

Khomo said on the same day at about 1.15pm, while conducting patrols along Sandile Thusi (Argyle) Road, officers spotted the white Mercedes Vito.

“The members successfully stopped the vehicle and upon searching it, found a R-5 rifle with two magazines and 60 rounds. The suspects were placed under arrest and transported to Durban Central SAPS where one of the victims was opening a case,” she said.
