Eskom announces stage 2 loadshedding

Eskom said it may escalate loadshedding to stage 3 this evening during peak times. Find the link to the full schedule in the article.

THE eThekwini Municipality reported that there will be loadshedding today from 8am to 10pm.

“If you have a power outage and it doesn’t fall under the loadshedding schedule, please report a power outage via WhatsApp,” said the City.

The power giant said the need for loadshedding was due to power plant breakdowns during the night as well as this morning.

“The delay of the return to service of two units at Duvha and Tutuka and the breakdowns of four units at Kriel, Tutuka and Kendal have resulted in the need for loadshedding today. These units removed more than 2 000MW of capacity from the system,” said Eskom in a statement.

It noted that loadshedding may be escalated to stage 3 this evening during peak times and that the constrained supply may cause loadshedding to continue throughout the weekend.
