All-comers to make cycling event a huge success

Karen Brokensha urged all leisure cycling enthusiasts and families to get outdoors and support the Domino Foundation.

THE billing of the aQuellé Tour Durban as the city’s ‘Premier Cycling Event’ is always a big draw for the Peloton Pack and the elite of Cyclocross.

With the cancellation of this year’s real time races and the usual 4 000 plus local and national cyclists not being able to vie with each other on Durban’s roads, the organisers of the 2020 cycling calendar highlight have set up a virtual event in which global cyclists can also participate from the comfort their of their lounge or home gym.

Even this might all sound a bit too intimidating and exclusive for those who enjoy just a little gentle pedal-pushing.

The great news is that Tour Durban this weekend (25 and 26 July) is open to all, whether they pace themselves like pros or they still have kids’ training wheels affixed to their bone-rattlers.

aQuellé is determined to honour its commitment to The Domino Foundation, the beneficiaries of the race, and draw in as many participants as possible.

Karen Brokensha, Domino Marketing Storyteller, urged all the ‘Weekend Warriors’, her term for those leisure cycling enthusiasts and families who also love to #Ride4Good, to get outdoors, pump the tyres and adjust the seats of their trusty two-wheelers.

“Register online for the Aquelle Tour Durban weekend with a minimum donation of R50 in lieu of an entry fee,” she said. Karen encouraged entrants to go out onto their local roads, enjoy the ride and share their pics and videos as comments on the Domino Facebook page.

“Let’s make this the biggest Tour Durban ever as participants don’t have to be in Durban, they can be part of the action from anywhere in the world!” she said.
