Denis Hurley Centre updates website

This work was possible because the DHC has a wonderful volunteer web manager who also happens to be Archbishop Hurley’s nephew.

THE Denis Hurley Centre (DHC) has recently updated its website and encourages the public to visit its page.

Director, Raymond Perrier, said the updating was down during lockdown.

He said the DHC uses Facebook to share instant news, and its newsletter to highlight the top four stories each month, but its website remains an important source of background about the DHC.

“We have therefore updated some of the information about the structures and projects of the DHC and also renewed the rolling gallery of photos. There is furthermore an archive of all the monthly newsletters – over 50 of them going back five years – so readers can return to older stories or track our progress over time,” he said.

Along with this, there are also copies of audited accounts, archives about Denis Hurley and Paddy Kearney, and a library of photographs of the late Archbishop and the DHC projects, and of course, suggestions of how to support the organisation through donating or volunteering.

“One of the main changes is the introduction of ‘hot buttons’ on the front page. These will change regularly and enable us to guide visitors quickly to the top six items that they are most likely to be looking for at any one time. And we have designed them to work for mobile screens as well as computers,” said Raymond.

He said all of this work was possible because the DHC has a wonderful volunteer web manager who also happens to be Archbishop Hurley’s nephew.

Living in Adelaide Australia does not stop Jeremy Hurley from making an active and useful contribution to the work of the DHC.

Raymond said despite all the water and time zones that lie between them, Jeremy says he has ‘oceans of appreciation and admiration for the hard, creative, strategic and effective work that is done by everyone at the Centre.’
