Partnerships reach out to aid families affected by raging fires

NPOs from all over Durban linked arms last week to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the 200 families affected by the recent KwaMashu fires.

NON-PROFIT organisations (NPOs) from all over Durban linked arms last week to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the 200 families affected by the recent KwaMashu fires.

The desperate plight of the families in this informal settlement, who lost their homes and everything in them in the raging flames, was highlighted by Kate Da Silva from Litter 4 Tokens from which Hearts in Hands Foodbank NPO put an appeal out to community partners to join forces.

The Robin Hood Foundation, Waste Action Tribe, Litter 4 Tokens and Jes Foord Foundation all banded together to distribute over three tons of food aid, clothing, linen as well as personal hygiene items, PPE and sanitiser.

Kim Griffith Jones from The Robin Hood Foundation commented: “Representatives from all the participating NPOs in this community collaboration outreach unanimously agreed that in these times of national disaster, it?s absolutely imperative we stand together to make as much of an impact as we can to bring relief to the plights of our people.”
