SASSA grants payment glitch causes short delay

Beneficiaries who use the Post Office/SASSA cards can approach their nearest Post Office to access manual payments of grants.

SOCIAL grant beneficiaries are advised that SASSA will stagger social grant payments this month to protect the vulnerable from the month-end rush.

SASSA has created two payment files, the first one covers the Old Age Pension and the Disability Grant while the second payment file covers all other grant types including Child Support, Foster Child, and Care Dependency grants.

Old Age Pension and Disability grants were to be available from Monday, 4 May, but a payment system glitch meant some beneficiaries were unable to access their grants on Monday.

The problem was resolved and SASSA announced that the funds were paid to beneficiaries’ accounts after 3pm on Monday and could be accessed from Tuesday, 5 May.

Beneficiaries who use the Post Office/SASSA cards can approach their nearest Post Office to access manual payments of grants.

For further enquiries affected beneficiaries are encouraged to call SASSA customer care number 033 846 3400 or 0800 601011.
