Intrepid women tackle Glenwood pavement problem

Wearing appropriate protection they cleared the rubbish and used their limited resources to fill the holes with a mixture of mud from a street tree that had been killed by white ants, and the remains of packets of crack filler and tiling grout

EDITOR – Cracks and holes in the pavement outside a complex in lower Glenwood were getting larger with the heavy rains.

Rubbish blew in, and they were becoming a breeding ground for maggots and flies.

As the Council had more urgent matters to attend to, two of the residents decided to tackle the problem themselves.

Wearing appropriate protection they cleared the rubbish and used their limited resources to fill the holes with a mixture of mud from a street tree that had been killed by white ants, and the remains of packets of crack filler and tiling grout.

They then protected the area with discarded flower pots and tape until it dried.

Although it will be only a temporary solution, it gave them a satisfying morning and the occasional passerby the entertainment of seeing two women apparently playing a children’s game of mud pies on the pavement!
