Beer fest for fine palates

Some of the country's finest brewed beers will be showcased at the Craft Republic festival.

BEER drinkers and foodies alike have a chance to explore an array of delicious fine craft beers and delicious food items at the Craft Republic Festival at Chris Saunders Park in Umhlanga on Saturday 2 November.

Eight micro and independent craft breweries have been selected to exhibit their golden liquid, with flavours ranging from alcoholic ginger beer through to the fuller, bolder ales and lagers.

The featured breweries are a balanced selection from Durban and KZN, supplemented by some labels from the Western Cape. The local lads are Old Main, Standeven, Robson and Unity Brassiere. From the fairer Cape Darling; Citizen; Dragon and Everson Breweries. Everson Breweries will also entice connoisseurs with their magnificent cider.

The full day affair begins at 11am and runs until 8pm. The park will transform into a vibrant al-fresco piazza with hay-bales in a pristine park like setting, and food outlets offering a myriad of light meal and brunch alternatives.

Although beer is the favoured beverage, other drink options like Bos Iced Tea, Dew Water, Frankie’s cool drink range, cocktails and Colombo Coffee will also be available. Of course no meeting of good company, food and beer would be complete without live music to add to the ambiance.

Tickets are R80 through Computicket or R100 at the door. No under 18s allowed. Young children accompanied by parents welcome.
