Four appear in Durban court for possession of stolen property

The suspects will be profiled to check if they are linked to other robberies committed in Durban Central and surrounding areas.

FOUR suspects made their first appearance in Durban Magistrates Court last week for possession of stolen property.

Provincial SAPS spokesperson Col Thembeka Mbele said on 26 February at around 5pm, Durban Central SAPS received information of a vehicle in the area which had been involved in a number of robberies.

“The suspects were seen driving the vehicle in the Durban CBD with stolen property inside the vehicle. The vehicle was spotted on St George’s Street and a search was conducted. Six stolen cellphones and a computer system were recovered. The four were arrested,” said Mbele.

The suspects will be profiled to check if they are linked to other robberies committed in Durban Central and surrounding areas.

“We are appealing to the community to refrain from buying stolen goods. Those found buying stolen goods will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” said KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Khombinkosi Jula.
