Have fun on the run with Crusaders

Get your entries in for the Crusaders 6km Fun Night Run/Walk which will take place on Thursday, 13 February.

CHAIRMAN of the Crusaders Running Club Mark Reeves has urged local residents and the community to get involved in the club’s annual 6km Fun Night Run/Walk.

Each year the club uses a portion of its yearly profits to support various charitable causes and this year is supporting the Love Your Nuts Foundation.

The goal of the NPO is to raise awareness of testicular cancer by educating communities about the ‘rarely spoken about cancer’ that often remains undetected in young adults.

“One of our biggest fundraisers for the year is our annual Beer Mile event but last year we thought we’d try and get another fun event going with this 6km race. It was a resounding success and this year we are again appealing to anyone interested to enter. The event is pram and pet friendly and is open to everyone. Like last year our paddling section of the club will also be holding a race on the uMngeni River while our 6km event goes on. The emphasis is on running or walking. We’ve had a few pre-entries already but we would love to see more people be part of the event. We are looking at about 220 plus runners and paddlers,” he said.

Reeves said there will also be heaps of lucky draw prizes.
