Coaches get feedback on mini-cricket programme

KFC, Cricket South Africa and the Dolphins Cricket Union organise a seminar where speakers talk to coaches from the region about what has been done in the last year.

MORE than 150 cricket coaches from primary schools from all over the KZN Coastal region attended the KZN Coastal KFC Mini-Cricket Seminar at the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Cricket Stadium on Friday.

The KFC Mini-Cricket programme provides opportunities for all involved in the programme to grow, develop and shine and encourages children to live active lifestyles.

KFC is committed to creating platforms which bring children closer to their cricketing heroes through the KFC Mini-Cricket programme, the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids versus Proteas Tour and the KFC T20 Internationals. KFC started sponsoring the KFC Mini-Cricket programme in 2010 and since then, the programme has grown from 89 000 to over 128 000 children getting active and participating in the programme, 11 707 coaches getting their players active in 6 495 schools, and playing 43 732 matches during the year.

At the seminar on Friday, the coaches were addressed by Dolphins President Ben Dladla, Dolphins CEO Heinrich Strydom, Dolphins players Sarel Erwee, Shane Dadswell and Calvin Savage – all of whom started their cricket careers with Mini-Cricket.

The seminars are organised in all of regions around South Africa and the unions invite the coaches as a reward for the work that they have done over the year. The coaches go back to their schools and to other schools in their regions and pass on what they have learned from the seminar.
