Good arrests by Berea SAPS

Berea SAPS officers arrested three men for various crimes last week.

BEREA SAPS made three arrests in the area last week.

According to Capt PN Naidoo from Berea SAPS, on Thursday evening Lt Col R Blood, visible policing commander, was patrolling in Florida Road when he noticed a man breaking into a motor vehicle that was parked on the road.

“The suspect then got into a Honda and fled. Lt Col Blood called for assistance and Berea crime prevention responded. The vehicle was stopped in Rosetta Road where two men got out of the vehicle and fled. A third suspect was arrested by Lt Col Blood. A bolt cutter and remote jamming device was found in the Honda,” he said.

On 18 July at around 4.30pm, a description of a suspicious-looking man who was seen on Musgrave Road was circulated. Metro Police officers who were ptrolling the Musgrave area noticed a man fitting the description and stopped and searched him. A firearm was found in his possession, and he was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.

A firearm was found in a man’s possession on 18 July.

In another incident on the same day, Berea crime prevention officers were patrolling along Musgrave Road and noticed a man carrying a ladder.

“They stopped and questioned the man as to where he got the ladder from, and he could not give them a reasonable explanation. He was charged for being in possession of suspected stolen property,” said Naidoo.
