Guard arrests housebreaker

The armed response officer had responded to a panic alarm activation after the suspect gained entry into a property.

AN alleged housebreaker was arrested by a security officer in Glenwood on Monday.

Blue Security’s Andreas Mathios said the officer had responded to a panic alarm activation after the suspect gained entry into a property at around 12.30pm.

“A domestic worker, who was busy cleaning up a property that had been vacated, saw the suspect jumping into a neighbouring property and pressed a panic alarm. When the officer responded to the scene he was advised that the suspect, who was carrying a yellow screw driver and a grey sack, had broken into a garage on a neighbouring property and fled the scene on foot,” he said.
