Hospital thanks the community

Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital is grateful for permission to have temporary parking in Meyrick Bennett Park.

GENERAL Manager at Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital has extended his thanks to the community and eThekwini Municipality for granting permission for the temporary use of a portion of Meyrick Bennett Park for staff parking.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the City Council as well as residents for their understanding and willingness to assist us in this way during our construction project, which we believe will ultimately enhance Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital’s service to the community,” Heinrich Venter said.

He said the hospital fully appreciated the importance of the Meyrick Bennett Park to the community, and that they would ensure that this green space was reinstated to its current condition once the hospital’s construction has been completed.

Earlier this month, residents gave the project the green light at a meeting with ward councillor Mmabatho Tembe and Garth Kloppenborg from the Parks Department on condition that the lot would be temporary and the park would be properly reinstated.

Kloppenborg said the municipality had to look at how they could accommodate the request and was happy to assist as it felt the development at the hospital was in the best interest of the community. He reassured the residents and Councillor Tembe that the park would be properly reinstated.
