Forum hosts schools’ Christmas project

Local schools are invited to decorate a tree in Helen Joseph Road for Christmas.

BULWER Safety and Urban Regeneration Forum (BSURF) is hosting a schools’ Christmas project where children will join forum members in decorating the trees along Helen Joseph Road from Jackie Horner to Julio’s Restaurant.

“We will be wrapping the trees in red, green and white material on Saturday, 1 December and have invited the schools in the area to participate by adopting a tree and out of recycled material, making Christmas decorations to attach to the material on the tree they adopt. Children must also put the name of their school on the tree. The school that decorates the tree the best will receive a floating trophy for community participation in our Christmas project. This floating trophy will be presented to the winner each year,” said Heather Rorick from BSURF.

She said children from local schools must meet the BSURF group opposite Julio’s Restaurant in Bulwer Park at 10am with their decorations to start decorating. Judging will be in the afternoon of 1 December and the winning school notified on Tuesday, 4 December.

“We also looking for donations of packets of suckers from residents and businesses for Father Christmas to hand out to children at Bulwer Park on 15 December,” she said. Contact Heather on 074 203 2792.
