Steel horse brigade ride for hope

Funds raised from the mass ride will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness and education about blood stem cell donation.

SUNDAY, 14 October was a memorable day for bikers attending The Sunflower Fund’s 6th Annual Ride4Hope in association with Supertech Pinetown and in conjunction with the Durban Bikers United Council.

The convoy of bikers set off at 9.30am en route to the Shongweni Farmers and Craft Market wearing their 2018 Sunflower Fund TOPEs (Tube of Hope). The bikers also received a commemorative cloth badge to mark their valued contribution.

Breakfast and prize-giving was a festive affair as food and craft beer was aplenty and lucky ticket winners. The talented Jeff Pharo of local band, DV8, struck all the right chords with the audience and the trophy for the ‘biggest club entry’ went to the East Coast Motorcycle Club. Individuals and clubs across the biking fraternity joined forces to raise much-needed funds for The Sunflower Fund.

Funds raised from the mass ride will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness and education about blood stem cell donation, recruit more blood stem cell donors, grow the patient support fund and maintain a registry of committed donors.
