Clean-up at Kenneth Gardens ends in pavement dump

A truck load of rubbish was dumped on the pavement after a clean-up at Kenneth Gardens.

A PILE of rubbish, rubble and old furniture dumped on the pavement outside Kenneth Gardens on Sphiwe Zuma Avenue on Monday, 1 October has raised the concerns of local residents.

According to a resident, the truck load of rubbish was dumped on the pavement after a clean-up exercise at Kenneth Gardens.

Ward 33 councillor, Mmabatho Tembe, said she had organised a clean-up at Kenneth Gardens and surrounds on 2 October and had heard on the day that the ANC office at Kenneth Gardens had undertaken a clean-up on 1 October.

“The rubbish was left on the pavement outside after the clean-up on 1 October. DSW does not collect furniture and the type of rubble left on the pavement. The ANC office did not communicate with me about the clean-up or about the rubbish left outside afterwards,” she said, adding she had also received complaints from residents about the mess which remains on the pavement.

“DSW is trying to assist me to have it removed but I am not sure at this point how long it will take, as the Roads Department will have to take it away,” she said.
