Expert talks on borer pest threat

A tiny pest has reached Durban and is responsible for mysterious fungal die-offs of trees, from indigenous forest trees to fruit trees like avocados.

THE Botanical Society of South Africa KZN Coastal Branch presents Responding to the Polyphagous Shot-hole Borer infestation, an illustrated talk by

Johan Bodenstein, on Monday, 29 October at Durban Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre at 5.30pm for 6pm.

A tiny pest has reached Durban and is responsible for mysterious fungal die-offs of trees, from indigenous forest trees to fruit trees like avocados. Symptoms are different in different tree species.

Horticultural consultant Johan Bodenstein speaks about this serious threat and what can be done about it. Do not take any live or dead samples to this talk – photographs are acceptable.

Entrance, including teas at the start, is R30 for members, R50 for visitors and R20 for students/learners. Proceeds go to BotSoc branch projects.
