Tell me a story

Tafta residents are ready for the annual Tell my Story competition.

ELDERS and children are sharpening their pencils in preparation for Tafta’s #TaftaTellMyStory contest. For the first time this year, the competition includes primary school learners.

Tafta CEO Femada Shamam explains, “This project is aimed at encouraging value-based relationships of respect, care, and compassion between elders and children of society.”

Considering the great reception the contest had initially, she adds, “it was the most natural extension for us to invite the youth to explore their story-telling prowess whilst connecting with elders in their lives.”

Entrants have until the end of September to submit their stories to Tafta and winners will be announced at the conclusion of a mall exhibition of the finalists’ work at Windermere Centre between 5 and 15 November this year. Younger entrants are asked to interview elders to share their lessons in life by commemorating their lives and elders are being challenged to share their life lessons by penning a letter to their grandchild. Winners are eligible to get gadgets such as laptops and tablets sponsored by MicroDivision and Windermere Shopping Centre.
