Giulia soloist at FINA champs

Giulia Torino was selected to represent South Africa as the soloist at the FINA Junior Worlds Artistic Swimming Championship in Budapest.

LOCAL artistic swimmer, Giulia Torino, has been chosen to participate at the FINA Junior World Artistic Swimming Championships from 18 to 22 July in Budapest, Hungary.

This comes after Giulia won a number of medals at the national competition held in Cape Town in December, where she won the Junior Solo Trophy and the award for the Highest Solo result.

The SA Juniors team for 2018 was announced at the event and was ratified in January by Swimming South Africa.

Giulia represented KZN at the South African Youth and Senior Aquatic Nationals Championships in Port Elizabeth in April where she won the Junior Free Solo and the Technical Solo at the event.

Based on these results, she was selected to represent South Africa as the soloist at the FINA Junior Worlds Artistic Swimming Championship in Budapest, where she will swim both the Free and Technical Solo.

Giulia has competed internationally since she was 13.

She was the SA Soloist in 2016 for the Comen Cup in Israel and in that same year, was part of the team who competed at the FINA Junior Worlds Championship in Kazan, Russia.

Last year she competed in the FINA Senior Worlds Championship in Budapest.
