Support uMlazi Mega City Fun Run and Walk

The uMlazi Mega City Fun Run and Walk celebrates youth month.

GET your entries in for uMlazi Mega City’s annual 5km Mega Fun Run and Walk at King Zwelithini Stadium, Zinto Cele Fan Park, at 8am on Sunday, 17 June.

Now in its second year, this annual event promises plenty of fun for both participants and those cheering them on.

The first 100 people to register to participate will receive a free t-shirt to be worn on the day of the event. There will also be refreshment stations at every 2km mark. The winners who cross the finishing line at Umlazi Mega City stand to win medals.

“We are hosting this mega fun event to celebrate youth month. This allows us to not only highlight the importance of good health among our youth, who will be the leaders of tomorrow, but help begin the healthy development of the next generation of young people who are now about to enter our education system,” said Umlazi Mega City general manager, Siphumelele Khuzwayo.

Zakhele Gumede of Elokishini Athletic Club and the race director of the event, endorsed this. “This exciting event is aimed at the entire community which includes both younger and older members of the public, residents and, especially, local school teams. Be sure to wear your school colours and give it your best shot so you can take home a school team prize.”

Because safety is a priority, one lane on Mangosuthu Highway will be closed to accommodate participants from 5am.

Registration for this event can be done at the Umlazi Mega City information desk and at King Zwelithini Stadium offices. Entries cost R60 for adults and R30 for children. Registration can also be done online before through www.championchip.co.za or by visiting https://onreg.com/megafunrun2018.
