“The suspects pulled up next to the pedestrian and robbed her of her cellphone and wallet before fleeing the scene. A motorist who saw what had happened, gave chase and fired several shots in the direction of the suspects who then crashed their vehicle in Trematon Drive,” he said.

He said the men jumped out of their vehicle and started running away.

“One of our local armed response officers saw the suspects running away from the crashed vehicle and managed to arrest one of the men and take him back to the scene of the crime. The woman’s cellphone and wallet were recovered and handed back to her. The other two suspects still remain at large,” he said.

Armed robbers also stormed into a home in Nunhead Road in Manor Gardens at around 2pm on Monday.

Mathios said the suspects forced open the driveway gate and the front door and security gate to gain entry into the house.

“They held up the resident and his daughter at gunpoint, demanding valuables such as jewellery and the location of the safe. They fled the scene with a television, four cellphones, a laptop, a camera and cash. No injuries were reported,” he said.
