Prep win cricket festival

Glenwood Prep won the finals against Amanzimtoti, winning with 142 runs.

GLENWOOD Prep took top honours at the U13 cricket festival held at Glenwood High School recently.

The festival took on a 20/20 format, with three rounds played on the Friday, 23 February and the play-offs, semi-finals and finals on Saturday, 24 February.

Sixteen teams from in and around the greater Durban area participated in the festival.
The semi-finals took place between Glenwood Prep and Pelham and the other semi-final between Penzance and Amanzimtoti.

Amanzimtoti Primary and Glenwood Prep played the final, with Glenwood Prep winning with 142 runs.
Penzance Primary placed third and Manor Gardens Primary 12th.
Mthokozisi Shezi, Glenwood Old Boy (2005) and Dolphins player, was the special guest at the prize giving ceremony.

The three players who received awards for their overall talent and potential were Romashan Pillay (Athlone Park), who was awarded Best Batsman of the Festival, with 321 runs scored, Bowler of the Festival was Slade Locke (Glenwood Prep), who took nine wickets, Best All Rounder of the Festival was Tristan Rossouw (Glenwood Prep), with 164 runs and nine wickets.
