Suspect arrested for selling illegal medication

A man was arrested for contravening the Medicines Control Act.

OFFICERS from the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit, Metro Police and Crime Intelligence conducted an intelligence driven operation around Durban CBD on 23 February.

According to Col Thembeka Mbhele, the officers proceeded to a business premises at the intersection of Smith and Mazeppa Streets and requested to search the premises. Mbhele said during the search, they found Epiderm cream, Betasal cream, Esapharma Lemonvite cream, Diproson: 6413, Extra Clair cream, Caro Light cream, Minnona blades, Gillette blades, 24 000 booklets of Rizla paper with a combined estimated street value of R13 241,550.

“The suspect was arrested for illegally selling medication and contravening the Medicines Control Act,” said Mbhele.
