The students are calling for management and the unions to reopen negotiations and find an amicable solution.

Earlier today the students handed over a memorandum to the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Mthembu.

One of their demands was for Mthembu to provide accommodation to students who currently have not been allocated residences due to the strike.

The three striking unions also issued the Vice Chancellor with their own memorandum, demanding that he step down. Meanwhile management has issued the unions with a lock out notice.
