Support CANSA Shavathon

The aim of the event is to encourage the public to show their support of cancer sufferers by completely shaving or colouring their hair.

HAVE your hair sprayed or shaved in support of cancer sufferers at this year’s CANSA Shavathon.

Events will be held at local shopping centres such as Musgrave Centre, Davenport Square, Makro Springfield and City View Shopping Centre on Saturday, 24 February from 9am to 3pm as well as at Suncoast Casino on Saturday, 24 February from 9am to 4pm, and at The Atrium Shopping Centre on 24 February and Sunday, 25 February from 9am to 3pm.

“This is a fun, interactive charity event and an awesome way to show support for a worthy cause, something that the whole family can participate in,” said Suncoast marketing manager, Louise Howell.

Now in its fifteenth year, the Shavathon events are independently managed by CANSA staff and volunteers. The aim of the event is to encourage the public to show their support of cancer sufferers by completely shaving or colouring their hair. For individuals who opt not to do either, donations can be made.

All proceeds collected throughout the country go towards CANSA’s purpose, which is to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa and fund developments in research, public education and general support of cancer patients.

You can also catch Dolphins Cricket players as well as their mascot Dolphi at this year’s event at City View Shopping Centre at noon at the Centre Court. The players will not only be meeting and greeting the public, signing autographs and giving away Dolphins cricket memorabilia, but will also be encouraging shoppers to come support this initiative. They will be showing their support by shaving and spraying their own heads, as well as others who attend the event during their hour at the mall.

Cost to shave or spray your hair at all the venues is R50 for adults and R25 for children under 12 years. Wraps will be on sale for R30 and there will also be mugs and sportswear on sale to raise funds for this good cause.
