Rhumbelow Durban gets a facelift

The roof has been inspected by engineers for safety and this will mean that the roof rafters will need to be completely replaced.

THE Rhumbelow Theatre in Durban has a structural problem with the safety regarding the roof and is currently undergoing renovations.

According to Roland Stansell, the roof has been inspected by engineers for safety and this will mean that the roof rafters will need to be completely replaced.

“This is a money and time issue. An application for funding has been submitted by the Rhumbelow MOTHS to the MOTH Province. All shows that are booked for Durban will be moved to another temporary venue at St Cyprian’s Church hall, 603 Umbilo Road,” he said.

Roland said the theatre has partnered with St Cyprian’s and with Sunshine Pre-School run in the hall at the church and that the MOTHS and St Cyprian’s have a long standing relationship and work together on many projects.

“There will be the normal Rhumbelow bar available and you can bring picnics or still buy our delicious burgers and chips,” he said.
