Pierre de Charmoy journeys to Rockwood Theatre

Eighties heartthrob Pierre de Charmoy will perform at Sibaya.

AFTER 34 years in the music industry, professional singer-songwriter and 80s heartthrob, Pierre de Charmoy, is set to take fans on a wild ride down memory lane as he reflects on his musical journey at The Rockwood Theatre, Sibaya on 3 February.

De Charmoy’s musical interests date back to an early age when he started composing songs and arranging music for the popular Sunday Folk Church Services at the St Charles College in Pietermaritzburg. It was here that his talent for singing, songwriting and performing and where his passion was ignited.

On completion of his two years of service in the military, he moved to Johannesburg in the late 1980s where he soon found himself playing gigs and visiting recording studios. RPM Records signed De Charmoy, recorded and released his first seven-single album Lonely Hearts in December 1981. Enormous interest was sparked by this album and de Charmoy was awarded the Most Promising New Artist accolade at the annual South African Music Awards the following year.

Concertgoers are guaranteed a night of fun, laughter, toe-tapping and hip-swaying music with an artist engraved in the history and hearts of South Africans.
