Recycle-refuse collection on hold

Recycling bags will not be collected on regular refuse collection days until the end of the month.

KEEP your recycle bags inside your property until the end of January.

That’s the message from eThekwini Municipality to residents who put out clear bags for recycling. The city says recycling bags will not be collected on regular refuse collection days until the end of the month.  This is as a result of the City’s recycling partner MPACT’s recycling plant undergoing repairs due to damage caused during severe storms in October last year.

It is anticipated that recycling refuse will be collected at the end of January. Residents are encouraged to keep their bags with recyclables inside their properties during this time.
The City is currently experiencing a challenge with the supply of orange bags, clear bags are being distributed in the meantime and residents are requested to use the clear bags for all recyclables.
EThekwini Municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused.
