Parents flocked to Gem Schoolwear in Overport for school uniform shopping.

AS ‘back to school’ fever sweeps across the country, Durban parents could be seen shopping up a storm this week as they purchased school uniforms in preparation for the first term of 2018 which starts on 17 January.

Gem Schoolwear in Overport once again proved to be a popular one-stop shop for most parents who needed to kit out children with school uniforms.

Manager, Muhammed Patel, said Gem was proud that all garments sold at the shop were made in South Africa.

“The prices haven’t gone up much from last year. We’ve noticed the shop hasn’t been as crammed as usual at this time of the year, as the school term will be starting a bit later, so it’s been a bit easier,” he said.

Crowds flocked to Gem Schoolwear in Overport to do uniform shopping this week.

Parents kitting out children for school will have to dig deep in pockets for school items. Boys’ school shorts will set you back between R60 and R70, trousers from R125 to R165, short sleeved shirts from R60 to R85, long sleeved shirts range from R65 to R90, socks at R20, costumes cost between R95 and R105, shoes from R215 to R300, and blazers from R320 to R430.

Girls’ blouses range from R60 to R85, long sleeved shirts from R65 to R90, swimming costumes from R130 to R160, girls’ shoes from R215 to R255, girls’ white socks at R20, dresses from R175 to R205 and white polycotton dresses from R90 to R120.
