Care centre suspends chronic medication collection

Esplamed will no longer take any scripts from the Glenumore Senior Citizens Care Centre as part of its restructuring.

WITHE the restructuring of Esplamed Pharmacy, which supplied the Glenumore Senior Citizens Care Centre with chronic medication for collection by seniors, the pharmacy will no longer accept scripts from the centre.

Irene van Middelkoop, chairperson of the Glenumore Senior Citizens’ Care Centre, said this meant that the people who went to the care centre on Monday 6 or 13 November, will not get their next lot of medication from the centre. She said medicines which are currently on order for pickup until the end of the month should still be issued as the scripts were already with the pharmacy.

“Patients are urged to remember to take their medicine boxes and tubes and insulin pens with the labels on to Cato Manor Clinic where they will be issued with medication,” she said.

The care centre will still be open on Mondays until 11 December from 8am to 9am so staff can attend to any queries and those who have outstanding medication will still be able to collect their medication.

“It is with great sadness and regret that we have to make this announcement,” said van Middelkoop.
