Students spread positive vibes

Students from UKZN held a placard demonstration, all with the aim to lift peoples' spirits.

A GROUP of UKZN students paraded motivational placards at the intersection of Florida and Innes Road, Morningside last week.

The reason, according to the students, was just to bring a smile and lift the spirits of motorists in the area.

Ayanda Gumede said: “We're just doing this to make people smile” and Ntando 'Tank' Cele said: “You never know what someone is going through. We are doing it to make a difference”.

They said an article recently went viral about a man in the US who had lost his job and got dumped by his girlfriend on the same day. He was on his way home, to commit suicide, when he drove past a group of people with the same mission, holding placards with motivational messages, which subsequently lead him to change his mind about committing suicide. Ayanda said this is what inspired them to spread a message of positivity.
