Swim the 031

“Whichever race you decide to do, make no mistake that the 031 Swim will be a great, fun event for all.”

GET your entries in for the 031 Swim, a unique surf swim hosted by Durban Surf and sponsored by Huletts, O’Neill and Hollard, on 7 October.

The swim, now in its second year, is a reboot of the old Mainstay/Clover 3.2km swim, with a unique twist. Instead of swimming along the coast from start to finish, the swim starts and finishes at North Beach, whereby swimmers must go back into shore at the halfway point. This allows spectators to view the swim almost entirely from start to finish from one viewpoint, as well as challenging the swimmers a little more by ensuring that they return to the beach at the halfway stage.

There are two events in one. The 1.6km swim is for the younger and less experienced swimmers and does the southerly loop only. The 3.1km swim is for the more adventurous and does two loops, firstly the 1.6km southern loop and then the 1.5km northern loop.

“Whichever race you decide to do, make no mistake that the 031 Swim will be a great, fun event for all,” said Steve Kitto, Durban Surf Nipper Chairman.

All entries can be down through the website www.dslc.co.za and emailed to clubmanager@durbansurf.co.za.
