SOME of the hottest comedians in SA will take to the stage in the Coloured Comedy Festival at the Bat Centre on 30 June and 1 July.

The three-day festival seeks not only to showcase the best of current and emerging stand-up comic talent but also explore the unique South African cultural narrative.

Among the top acts featured are Marc Lottering, Robby Collins, Richelieu B and Masood Boomgaard. The festival played to packed audiences since 2013 and this year the 'bruinous' return with a brand new edition.

The festival will be headlined by Cape legend Marc Lottering who for almost two decades has wowed audiences locally and abroad with his hit shows such as “From the Cape Flats with Love” and the more recent “Hashtag Lottering.” He also appeared in numerous television productions.

Robby Collins is best known for featuring alongside Trevor Noah in the “Nationwild” national tour and regularly appears on Comedy Central. He has also featured in International comedy festivals.

For Joburg-based Richelieu B the show is somewhat of the homecoming. Richelieu has cemented himself on the Gauteng comedy circuit performing with the country’s leading acts. He is known for razor sharp wit and his ability to think on his feet. His ability to roast hecklers alive is legendary.

Masood Boomgaard needs no introduction to local audiences having worked the local circuit for almost a decade, playing alongside the country’s top acts as well as also staging a string of solo shows with much success. He is known for his unique take on current affairs

The festival also features Kelvin Stoffels, Arnotte Payne and Marvin Peters.

The show boasts talents with unique styles and comic outlooks. A wide range of issues will be addressed on stage including Jacob Zuma’s inability to avoid controversy and Bafana Bafana’s inability to win. Comics will also go “grass roots” and will narrate witty coloured tales from exotic lands like Wentworth, Sydenham and Eldorado Park. There will also be a coloured survival guide offering tips on coping with a recession, dating coloured women and how not to get stabbed in the Cape Flats.

Tickets are R120 and are available through Computicket and Shoprite outlets, or contact 084 664 1015.
