Author speaks at women’s empowerment event

Durban writer, Dudu Busani-Dube, will be speaking at a women empowerment event at Broadway Lifestyle in Pietermaritzburg.

DURBAN breakout author of the ‘Hlomu’ series, Dudu Busani-Dube, will be speaking at Sukuma Ndlovukazi, a women’s empowerment event at Broadway Lifestyle in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday, 17 June at 11am.

Sukuma Ndlovukazi will explore crucial topics from Busani-Dube’s books, which have fast become the obsession of South African women countrywide. These topics include the hardships women face in their marriages, families, friendships, businesses, careers, academics and finances.

In light of the recent surge of violent crimes against women in South Africa, Sukuma Ndlovukazi hopes to break the silence and be a platform that empowers and supports women through honest and genuine conversations.

“Coming up with this event, I wanted to create a platform to motivate women and help them realise their strengths by engaging in difficult but necessary conversations,” said Nonkanyiso Mpulo, founder of Anthurium Events.

Sukuma Ndlovukazi is open to all women in Durban, Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas, and will be Busani-Dube’s last event before settling down to write the fourth and final instalment of her book series.

Sukuma Ndlovukazi also aims to encourage entrepreneurial spirits as women inspire, motivate and educate each other, network, build friendships and gain exposure.

There will be a book signing segment, an opportunity for the ladies to shop at women-owned stalls and fun surprises for the ladies.

Tickets are R150 and stalls are R300. For more information, contact Nonkanyiso on 081 231 2232 or follow the Sukuma Ndlovukazi event page on Facebook.
