Don’t miss second jokes and jazz event

There will be laughter galore and smooth jazz at the second Jokes 'n Jazz series at UKZN.

AFTER a thrilling packed house left the audience begging for more, The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at UKZN has announced The Jokes ‘n Jazz series is back on 2 May from 6pm.

On the ‘jokes’ side, headliner is comedian Jem Atkins, who has been in the comedy and corporate entertainment industry for more than five years. He has garnered a reputation as a highly talented professional MC and corporate comedy entertainer, and indeed one of the top comedy performers in Durban. Support act is Vee Morton, a stage actor and queen of the Durban underground comedy circuit. While not strictly conforming to standards of ‘appropriateness’ she has earned respect among audiences and a place among Durban’s finest comedians. Her tongue-in-cheek slant on romance, womanhood and aging will gracefully leave you with the comfort of knowing it’s okay to laugh at ourselves.

Host Troy Tesla is an international comedian and mastermind behind the Jokes ‘n Jazz series. He hosts every episode with fresh material that instantly sparked a following. He is known for veering all types of audiences into an absurd comfort of laughter with his mature and provocative satirical take on domestic and global issues.

On the ‘jazz’ side, Neil Gonsalves and the UKZN School of Music students will keep patrons entertained.

Tickets will be available at the door for R70, R45 for pensioners and R20 for students.
