Man injured in attempted Durban hijacking

Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the man has sustained a serious gunshot wound.

A MAN was seriously wounded in an attempted hijacking in Currie Road on Tuesday night.

According to Chris Botha from Netcare 911, at around 7.46pm paramedics responded to a shooting incident in the road.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a man and a woman were travelling along Youngs Road when an attempted hijacking took place,” he said.

Paramedics found that the man had sustained a serious gunshot wound while the woman was uninjured but very traumatised.

Botha said paramedics stabilised the man at the scene before he was transported to a specialised hospital.

KZN police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, confirmed that a case of attempted murder had been opened at the Berea Police station.

Gwala said the victims were approached by three suspects, and shots were fired. One of the victims, he said, was shot in the chest.
