MUT beat Golden Arrows in thrilling match

Mageba Warriors leads the SAB Central League log with 54 points with no losses

GOLDEN Arrows suffered a 3-1 loss to Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) at the Moses Mabhida outer fields on Sunday. The visiting side took the lead in the first half of the match after some sloppy defending from Arrows defence, courtesy of midfielder Nhlanhla Zwane. Arrows continued to apply pressure in search of an equalizer but their strikes failed to put the ball in the back of the net.

On the stroke of half-time MUT were reduced to 10 men following a dangerous tackle on Arrows midfielder. Arrows coach, Papi Zothwane, made a number of changes at the break. The home team struggled to create openings in the final third and were only restricted to efforts from distance, as they trailed MUT. After 50 minutes MUT doubled the scoring, with Zwane taking advantage of the bad defending by Arrows. The home team eventually reduced the deficit in the 66th minute. However, the MUT team restored their lead in the 75th minute. The clash ended on a sour note for Arrows, as defender Phumlani Mcunu picked up a serious injury.

Mageba Warriors leads the SAB Central League log with 54 points with no losses, followed by Cherrians with 42 points.
