Jaws of life used to rescue driver

SAPS were on the scene of the accident and will be investigating further.

THREE people were injured, one seriously so, after two vehicles collided at the intersection of Booth and Bellair Roads around 12.45pm on Monday. According to Ceron Lennox, advanced life support paramedic, Rescue Care Paramedics arrived to find one driver entrapped in the wreckage.

“Advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise the patient inside the vehicle while Durban Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic tools to free the man,” said Lennox.

Once freed, the patient was transported to a nearby hospital for further care. Lennox said two occupants from the second vehicle also sustained injuries and were stabilised before being transported to hospital.

“At this stage the exact cause of the collision is unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further,” said Lennox.
