Drugs, firearms recovered in KZN

Major General Bheki Langa warns dealers to stop dealing drugs in the province.

THE recovery of drugs and arrest of drug dealers by police officers across the province has been commended by KwaZulu-Natal acting provincial commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa.

According to Langa, a number of operations were conducted throughout the province recently where drugs and firearms were recovered.

“I want to warn drug dealers to stop dealing or using drugs otherwise they will face the long arm of the law. I also appeal to the public to continue providing us with information about people dealing in drugs in their areas,” he said.

Lt Colonel Thulani Zwane, provincial SAPS spokesman, said operations started on Thursday, 12 January in various parts of the province especially in the Point area, Durban, Umzinto, Umgababa, Port Shepstone and the Sundumbili area.

Among many arrests and recovery of drugs in these areas, was a local incident in Point on 13 January where a man was arrested after being found in possession of drugs.

“It is believed that the man was manufacturing ecstasy in his flat. Ecstasy tablets, rock cocaine, ecstasy powder and manufacturing tools and die were found,” said Zwane.
