UMBILO police are appealing to the community to be wary of a suspicious vehicle which had been involved in cases of theft over the past two weeks.

According to Captain Pumzile Makaula, communications officer at Umbilo SAPS, the vehicle, a white BMW was spotted on two occasion where thefts were recorded.

“In the latest incident on Tuesday, the vehicle stopped close to a bus stop on Baclay Road and the driver, an Indian man asked for directions, however when the woman went close to the window of the vehicle to help the man, the driver took out a knife and demanded the victim’s cellphone and wallet,” she said.

On Friday, 4 November, Makaula said there was another incident of cellphone theft near Hutchinson Road, where an Indian man and white woman in a white BMW stopped a woman saying they needed directions.
