Water polo festival draws crowds at DHS

Durban High School held a successful water polo tournament over the weekend.

DURBAN High School’s 150th U16 water polo tournament saw 16 teams from around the country participate from Friday, 7 October, until Sunday, 9 October at the school.

Numerous matches took place over the three days, with the main events taking place on Sunday. The much anticipated semi-final game was played between Westville Boys’ High and Glenwood High School. The extremely fast-paced game saw excellent play from both teams, however Glenwood overpowered Westville, winning 5-2. The finals followed, which saw St John’s College and Clifton College battling it out for the win.

This game was one of the best of the tournament with both sides showing their strength, skill and each team keeping up with each other until the end, resulting in a 4-all draw. A penalty shoot saw St John’s claiming the win and being named the champions of the event. DHS thanked all the sponsors, parents, supporters and coaches for attending and commended the players on their efforts.
