School children escape taxi fire

A TAXI, full of primary school children, caught alight on the N3 on ramp to Durban this afternoon.

Rescue Care’s Garrith Jamieson, who rushed to the scene, said the children were “shaken and a bit traumatised, with a few nicks and bruises sustained while trying to get out the taxi but none were burned or seriously injured.”

“The Fire Department managed to extinguish the flames, but the taxi is completely burnt out,” he added.
