UMBILO police are investigating a hijacking and two cases of attempted murder after a couple was hijacked in Glenwood.
According to Umbilo SAPS communications officer, Captain Pumzile Makaula, a couple were sitting in their white One Series BMW, when they were approached by two men, armed with firearms who allegedly instructed them to get out of the vehicle.
“The couple got out of the vehicle and ran into a property on Denham Place. One of the suspects allegedly ran after them and fired a shot.
“The man was shot in the leg while a security guard on the premises, tried to grab the suspect and was also shot in the hand,” she explained.
Makaula said the suspects got into the BMW and drove off. “Nine cartridges were found on the scene and the vehicle was recovered in Umlazi by SAPS DK9 Unit,” she added.
