Sunfoil extends sponsorship of test cricket

The Willowton group will be extending the Sunfoil Test Cricket event sponsorship for another two seasons.

THE Willowton group announced that they will be extending the Sunfoil Test Cricket event sponsorship for another two seasons, commencing with the upcoming Sunfoil Test Series between the Standard Bank Proteas and New Zealand.

Sunfoil first entered into partnership with Cricket South Africa (CSA) in the 2011/2012 season and have remained partners ever since.

Through its partnership with CSA, cricket development has also seen a major boost with the launch of the Sunfoil Education Trust.

To date, over R3, 5 million has been raised which has contributed to close to 20 disadvantaged students receiving full bursaries to attend cricket schools around the country.

And it’s the players that contribute to the fund as their efforts with the bat and ball ensure that Sunfoil contribute R1000 for every four, R2000 for every six and R2500 for every wicket during all home test matches.

“It’s great that we can contribute to such a worthy cause. We would like to make a difference and add value to any young cricketer’s career, and Sunfoil allows us to do this by playing the game we love. It’s a great initiative and I would like to challenge all my team mates to give it their best and fight for the top spot on the Sunfoil Education Trust Leaderboard this season,” said Proteas Test Captain, AB de Villiers.

Last season, Sunfoil also added great incentives into franchise cricket by announcing a whopping R2 million winner’s cheque for the Sunfoil Series. The same prize will be up for grabs with the total prize pool for the tournament over R3 million.

The Sunfoil season officially commences this Friday with the start of the first Sunfoil test between the Proteas and Black Caps in Durban.

The first round of fixtures in both the four-day Sunfoil Series and the Sunfoil Provincial three-day Cup get underway on 6 October.
