Stonier celebrates the classics

Well-known actor and singer, Anthony Stonier, will perform songs from Richard Rogers at the Rhumbelow Theatre.

THE Music of Richard Rogers will come alive on the stage at Rhumbelow Theatre on Sunday 4 September.

In the show, entitled The Sound of His Music, Anthony Stonier takes a meander down memory-lane through the marvellous melodies of Rogers, one of the most famous composers of all time. Songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The King and I and of course The Sound of Music will be featured, as well as lesser well-known music from an earlier collaboration with another lyricist, Lorenz Hart.

The playlist includes Oh, What a Beautiful Morning!, Some Enchanted Evening, Surrey with a Fringe on Top, Hello Young Lovers, Edelweiss, Happy Talk and You'll Never Walk Alone, to name but a few. These evergreen songs are interspersed with anecdotes and amusing stories relating to the shows they came from.

The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner, take food picnic baskets and braais will be available should you wish to cook some meat.

Tickets are R140 and R120 for pensioners and block bookings of eight or more.
