Multiple crashes in Durban keep medics on the run
There was carnage on the roads of Durban last night, with many people injured in various accidents in town.
THERE were multiple crashes in and around the Durban CBD on Saturday night keeping Rescue Care paramedics busy the entire night as they attended to scores of injured.
The intersection of Anton Lembede (Smith) Street and Brook Street saw two collisions take place during the course of the evening. In the first collision just after 9pm Rescue Care Paramedics went to the aid of 12 people who had sustained various injuries and were transported to hospital.
In the second collision at the same intersection just after 3.30am paramedics found four people injured after one of the vehicles rolled. After stabilising the injured they were transported to hospital.
In Major Calvert Road in Wentworth two vehicles collided leaving one man with serious injuries. Rescue Care Paramedics responded just after 7pm to assist. The patient was stabilised and transported to hospital.
A five car pile occurred at the intersection of Alpine Road and Umgeni Road just before 7pm. One patient was stabilised on scene after suffering moderate injuries before being transported to hospital.
Just after 8.30pm a student was knocked down by a vehicles in Florida Road near the Gordon Road intersection. The patient suffered moderate injuries and was stabilised before being transported to hospital.
Just after 10.20pm two vehicles collided at the intersection of Leop0ld Street and Russel Street. Paramedics attended to five patients who had suffered various injuries. Once all had been stabilised they were transported to hospital.
Shortly after midnight paramedics attended a collision at the intersection of Dr Pixley KaSeme (West) Street and Aliwal Street. Six people sustained various injuries. Once all the injured had been stabilised they were transported to hospital. Just after 6.30am paramedics responded to another collision, this time at the corner of Anton Lembede (Smith) and Gardiner Streets. Two patients were injured in the collision and were treated and transported to hospital.
