Dance festival showcases local talent

Sankalp showcases the solo artist and aims to raise the standard of the Indian classical performing arts in South Africa.

KALA Darshan will present Sankalp – the second annual festival of classical music and dance – on 30 July at 6pm and 31 July at 5pm at the Pattundeen Theatre – ABH (Unit 6, Chatsworth).

Under the artistic direction of Durban based Kathak dancer, Manesh Maharaj, Sankalp showcases the solo artist and aims to raise the standard of the Indian classical performing arts in South Africa. This year’s performance will showcase an impressive line-up of young and upcoming talent as well as exponents in the various genres of music and dance over two nights.

Sankalp is the only festival of its kind in South Africa and aims to afford audiences a rare opportunity to experience art of the highest calibre.
