Gang robs clothing retailer

A gang of 10 men robbed a clothing retailer in the Durban CBD.

A GANG of 10 armed robbers held up security guards at a business premises in the CBD in the early hours of this morning, 6 July.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson, said the gang had arrived in a white Audi and a silver Mercedes which they parked in Dr Pixley KaSeme (West) Street at around 3.30am.

“The gang members, two of them armed with firearms, walked on foot to a clothing retailer in Anton Lembede (Smith) Street where they held up four security guards and robbed them of their cellphones and panic buttons,” he said.

He said they then smashed the store’s display windows to gain entry and ransacked the premises before fleeing the scene with a large quantity of branded clothing.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. SAPS Durban Central attended the scene of the crime.
